Cricketers of all countries, including India, are allowed to choose their jersey number. The respective cricket boards or Cricket Governing Body have no role in allotting jersey numbers. Virat Kohli and Smriti Mandhana are two of the finest players in men's and women's international cricket. Coincidentally, both got the same jersey numbers. Kohli revealed in an interview that he chose the number 18 for his jersey because his father died on 18 December 2006. The 35-year-old seems to have his dad around whenever he dons the jersey. 

Mandhana had revealed that she first wanted number seven - her roll number in school. However, someone was already wearing the number 7 jersey and she was asked to choose 18 as her birthday is on July 18.

4. Dale Steyn and Ellyse Perry (8)

Former South Africa pacer Dale Steyn and star all-rounder of Australian women's cricket Ellyse Perry got the same jersey number. However, the reason behind their number selection has not been revealed.

3. Shubman Gill and Alyssa Healy (77)

The rising sensation of Indian cricket Shubman Gill and veteran Australia women's cricketer Alyssa Healy are wearing the same jersey number. Shubman Gill said that he asked for his lucky number 7 but did not get it. So, he added another 7 to it to make it 77. Healy revealed in an interview that she had always wanted the number 7 but had to go for 77 because it wasn't available.

2. MS Dhoni and Harmanpreet Kaur (7)

Former India men's team captain MS Dhoni and current India women's team captain Harmanpreet Kaur have the same jersey numbers. As Dhoni's birthday is on July 7, he chose the same number for the jersey. Notably, the wicketkeeper batter's favourite footballer Cristiano Ronaldo's jersey number is also 7.

1. AB De Villiers and Meg Lanning (17)

Former South Africa and Australia captains AB de Villiers and Meg Lanning have worn the same number in their international jerseys. De Villiers chose the number 17 for his jersey as his birthday is on February 17 and is considered a lucky number.
