Rajasthan impressed one and all with their performance in the Indian T20 League 2022. Under the leadership of Sanju Samson, the franchise dished out consistent performances and finished at number two on the points table at the end of the league stage.
Jos Buttler scored the most runs, while Yuzvendra Chahal picked the most wickets in the tournament. However, they would have loved it had they won the title. Rajasthan reached the final of the 15th edition but lost to Gujarat by 7 wickets in the summit clash.
Nevertheless, they would be proud of themselves and would be keen to win the title next year. Ahead of the mini-auction next year, Rajasthan might release some of the players who didn’t live up to the expectations this year.
In this article, we take a look 3 players that Rajasthan might release ahead of the next season:
- Riyan Parag
Rajasthan bought Riyan Parag back at the mega auction for an amount of INR 3.80 crore. He is counted among the best fielders in the country and his performances with the bat didn’t inspire a lot of confidence. Parag got the opportunity to play 17 matches. He scored 183 runs at an average of 16.64. In the final of the tournament, he managed to score 15 runs. There is no denying that he couldn’t justice to the role of a finisher and thus, he might be released next year.
- Karun Nair
Karun Nair is one of the players who might not be picked by any team next year. He got the chance to play 3 matches for Rajasthan this season. He couldn’t play any significant knock and made heads turn. Nair scored 16 runs at a dismal average of 8. The recently concluded Indian T20 League could bet the last one for Nair.
- Nathan Coulter Nile
After playing his first game this season against Hyderabad, Nathan Coulter-Nile picked up an injury and he was ruled out of the tournament. The Australian cricketer might not be retained by Rajasthan for next edition. With age not on his side, he might go unsold next year at mini-auction.
