Indian team is gearing up their preparations for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup 2022 in full flow. Recently, they are in action during the ongoing three-match T20I series against South Africa. The men in blue are leading the series with a margin of 1-0. Apart from that, there is a lot of debate and deliberation going on the best playing XI of team India in the eighth edition of the 20-20 World Cup.
Rohit’s men will begin their campaign with the inaugural match of their campaign against the arch-rivals Pakistan. So, the selection of playing XI is a major concern to address for skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid.
So, keeping that point in consideration, here we’ll have a look at three undependable players who should not be picked in the plans if India is aiming to win the World Cup 2022.
Ravichandran Ashwin
The Chennai-based legendary all-rounder is known for his handsome and illustrious career in the traditional format of the game. But apart from that, it’s been very rare when he appeared for the national side of India in the T20 internationals. Ravichandran Ashwin has played only six matches in the calendar year of 2022 and he could scalp only five wickets with an average of 29.40 and an economy rate of 6.12 to his name.
He also couldn’t account for any wicket in the last T20I clash against South Africa during the first of the three-match T20I series. So, the Indian management might look at Axar Patel instead of Ashwin to be in the playing XI of the team in the marquee tournament to be played in Australia.
Harshal Patel
The Star pacer has impressed everyone with his stellar performances in the Indian T20 League. But he couldn’t keep his purple run of form with the ball in international cricket. He made his return to the national side of India in the three-match T20I series against Australia. But the 31-year-old pacer failed miserably to deliver up to the expectations and cost a lot of runs which went south for team India.
He could claim only one wicket after playing all three matches of the series against the Australians. Harshal registered an expensive economy rate of 12.38 which was not very well for a speedster in the shortest format of the game. Concluding this, he can be replaced either with senior pacer Mohammed Siraj or star performer Deepak Chahar.
Deepak Hooda
The Rohtak-born lad has proven his skills in some of the games for India in the current calendar year of 2022. He also made his first international appearance for India earlier this year. Although, he has scored 293 runs in nine innings of these 12 matches with an average of 41.85. But apart from that, he couldn’t deliver up to the hopes of the team when his performance was very crucial.
Even after having an image of a batting all-rounder, Hooda couldn’t impress the management and the fans with his bowling too. He has scalped only wicket after bowling six overs in four T20Is for the men in blue. So, India should have a look at some other like-to-like replacements for Hooda in the 20-20 World Cup 2022.
