The Rajasthan franchise of the Indian T20 League has faced a big gust as premier pacer Prasidh Krishna will not be a part of the Rajasthan squad for the entire season of the Indian T20 League 2023. The Karnataka bowler sustained a lumbar stress fracture due to which he will not appear in either of the matches of the 16th season of the cash-rich Indian T20 tournament.
Notably, Krishna was one of the prominent deals Rajasthan happened to seal during last year’s mega auction for the 2022 edition of the tournament. He also played a crucial role in helping his team to reach the final of the tournament; where they lost to the new entrants Gujarat.
Coming back to Prasidh Krishna, the team would definitely look ahead to replace the 27-year-old with a better option of a pacer; who can become a part of the squad in ITL 2023.
With said that, here we’ll have a look at the three pacers who could replace Prasidh Krishna in the Rajasthan squad for the Indian T20 League 2023.
Dhawal Kulkarni
The senior Mumbai pacer Dhawal Kulkarni has been very brilliant in the recently-concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022. Kulkarni bowled very economically while playing for Mumbai in the domestic T20 tournament scalping four wickets.
Apart from this, the 34-year-old veteran has a very good career of 92 matches in the Indian T20 League scalping 86 wickets including a best figure of 4/14. Considering his experience, Dhawal Kulkarni could be a good option to replace the void created by the absence of Prasidh Krishna.
Sandeep Sharma
The veteran Indian pacer Sandeep Sharma hasn’t been active in international cricket so proactively but he has a good amount of experience in domestic cricket. Sharma made his Indian T20 League debut in the 2013 for Punjab franchise against Hyderabad at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.
Since then, he has played 104 Indian T20 League matches and also claimed 114 scalps to his name. Sharma might be a good option for Rajasthan to replace the injured Prasidh Krishna. The 29-year-old Punjab quick could deliver up to the expectations for Rajasthan in the crucial matches of the tournament.
Varun Aaron
The star pacer Varun Aaron has been very impressive with the bowl in the recent 10 white-ball appearances including five List-A matches and five T20 matches. In these appearances, he scalped 9 List-A wickets and four T20 wickets on his credit with economical figures.
Varun Aaron made his Indian T20 League debut for the Delhi franchise 12 years back in the year 2011. Since then, he has scalped 44 wickets in 52 matches he played so far. Keeping his T20 excellence in the back of the mind, the Rajasthan management might count on him to rope in as a pacer in the absence of Prasidh Krishna.
