The senior Victorian batter has recently hanged his boots from the ODI format and he might also go for the same decision in the shortest format of the game. Finch is struggling with the poor run of form with the bat for a long time. So, there’s not any reason which justifies continuing to play T20I for him.

Therefore, he might quit his responsibility as captain after the tournament. Australian cricket administration would be looking to keep only one captain in all formats of the game. Notably, Australia has won the last year’s 20-20 World Cup in 2021 under the leadership of Aaron Finch.

Rahul Dravid

The 35-year-old was appointed as the captain of the Indian team when Virat Kohli left the role. There were talks in the Indian cricketing corridors that the T20I captaincy of India might be given to any youngster for the sake of a long-run vision. But the Indian cricket board decided to go ahead with experienced guys like Rohit Sharma as the 20-20 World Cup 2022 was nearing.

Although, there are fine chances that the 35-year-old would pull himself back from the role of captaincy. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya or senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah might be the successor of Rohit Sharma to lead India in the shortest format of the game. Sharma’s irregularity with the form in T20I is also a concern for the Indian team.

The 37-year-old star all-rounder is serving the national team of Afghanistan for the last 13 years since his international debut in 2009. Mohammad Nabi is also leading the Afghan side for a long time. He will also be there as captain for the team in the upcoming 20-20 World Cup 2022. But keeping his age into consideration, Nabi would not fit into the plans of Afghanistan for the next edition of the World Cup.

So, the 37-year-old veteran might step down from captaincy to transfer this responsibility to any youngster. Nabi was also struggling with his form, so along with leaving captaincy, he may also think of retiring from international cricket.
