The biggest rivalry in sport is set to resume in the 20-20 World Cup with India up against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday (October 24). This will be the sixth time the teams will meet in the global event, with India having an upper hand by managing to win five times. Record though counts for little in the shortest format as any team can win on their given day.
Pakistan are also an unpredictable side and have enough match-winners like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi. The team also has experience of playing in the UAE conditions and knows a thing or two about winning the crunch games. The batting looks solid with the inclusion of Shoaib Malik in the middle order. He is in good form recently and also has a decent record against India.
The only concern for Pakistan would be the form of all-rounder Shadab Khan. He has looked a bit of colour and the management would be keen to see him among the wickets and runs.
Meanwhile, India are coming off from two wins in the warm-up matches against England and Australia. The team tried different combinations at the top, which paid off. The top-order batters were all amongst the runs with KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, and Rohit Sharma scoring half-centuries. Even Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya flexed their muscles and finished the game against Australia by chipping in with useful contributions.
Only skipper Kohli missed out but come the encounter against Pakistan, he would be gunning to get some runs.
Pitch and conditions
The Dubai wicket is comparatively quite flat and mostly remains the same throughout the 40 overs. Chasing has been preferred in recent times.
Weather Report
The climate is expected to be hot and humid with remote chances of rain. The temperature would be 34 degrees Celsius.
