Virat Kohli is currently busy playing for India in the fourth Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Ahmedabad. However, he has failed to score big in this series so far. So, fans are hoping for a better show from him in this match. Meanwhile, on 11 March 2023, Kohli completes 15 years as a player of the Bangalore franchise.
Kohli has been an integral part of this franchise since the inception of the Indian T20 League. After winning the Under-19 World Cup for team India as the skipper, his name started to pop up within the Indian cricketing fraternity. The Bangalore franchise showed faith in that young cricketer and bought him for his base price of INR 20 lakhs.
Virat Kohli is the highest run-scorer in the history of the Indian T20 League
However, during that time, he was an uncapped player and the Indian Cricket Board decided the base price of INR 20 Lakhs for all uncapped players in that auction. Since then, he is still playing for the franchise in this rich-vein league. So far, Virat Kohli has played 223 matches and scored 6624 runs, at an average of 36.20. He has also managed to score five centuries and 44 half-centuries so far in all these seasons. Not only as a player, but Kohli also got the opportunity to lead this franchise for nine consecutive seasons from 2013 to 2021. But, still, now he has failed to win the prestigious trophy for the franchise both as a player and skipper.
As a player, he got two chances in 2009 and 2011 respectively. Then, as a skipper, he led his team to the final in 2016. But, Bangalore lost that final against the Hyderabad franchise. In that edition, Virat Kohli was the highest run-scorer with 973 runs in 16 matches, at an average of 81.08. He notched up four centuries in that season and thus, he set the record for scoring the most number of runs in a single season of the Indian T20 League. But, on the occasion of his completing 15 years at the Bangalore franchise, some fans came up and trolled him heavily for achieving only individual records. Notably, Kohli is the highest run-scorer in the history of the Indian T20 League so far.
Here is how fans have trolled Virat Kohli for completing 15 years at the Bangalore franchise:
