According to Dana White, the UFC PI is scheduled to debut in Mexico in September of this year. Mexican MMA athletes will be developed and supported by the Performance Institute. The corporation will reveal the facility, which will be over 32,000 square feet in size and act as a catalyst for athlete development.

The centre will include a complete MMA coaching staff and will use a system of sports-specific training created after consulting with coaches and trainers from all over the world. To provide local fighters with a platform to demonstrate their skills and abilities for a career in MMA, the Performance Institute will also organise and conduct talent evaluation events. It is safe to say that once it is operational, the facility will be very helpful to Latin American fighters. Over 150 fighters from Latin America comprise over 20% of the UFC roster.

UFC PI in Mexico will be the third PI after Las Vegas and Shanghai

There are currently just two Performance Institutions, one in Shanghai, China, and one in Las Vegas. To serve the fighters, the Las Vegas facility was opened in 2017. More than 700 boxers on the roster and professionals from other sports leagues, like the NBA, NHL, NFL, etc., have used it.

The second Performance Institute ever opened its doors in Shanghai, China, in 2019. The building is almost three times bigger than the Performance Institute in Las Vegas and is the biggest MMA training and development facility in the world.

Dana White has disclosed intentions to construct other facilities worldwide, with the third UFC Performance Institute scheduled to open in Mexico later this year. In a recent press conference following UFC 287, Dana White disclosed that the organisation is considering building venues in Puerto Rico, Abu Dhabi, and Africa.

He said, "We're doing Mexico right now, we got to get that one, but PI's aren't cheap; they are expensive to build, man. We're working on Mexico now and get our sh*t together and figure out what's next because we're talking about opening one in Abu Dhabi, I want one in Puerto Rico, and I would love to have one in Africa too."
