The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a company that conducts MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fights. MMA fight has been shown in many Bollywood movies. Like in WWE, superstars perform jumps or stunts from the top of the ring, similarly in UFC, two fighters use kicks, punches, and submission moves to defeat each other.
WWE's superstars Brock Lesnar and CM Punk have fought in MMA, however, the latter couldn’t find success there. Another WWE diva, Ronda Rousey, who recently became a part of WWE, was the first woman UFC champion. The biggest fight in the history of UFC was held between the former UFC double champ Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov in 2018, which is still in the memories of many UFC fans in which McGregor had to suffer an embarrassing loss by submission.
UFC is one of the largest companies in mixed martial arts. The first event of UFC took place in the year 1993, and at that time the company was owned by Art Davie and Rorion Gracie. The current UFC President is Dana White, who took over in 2001. UFC has done 400 events so far. Let us tell you that when MMA happened during the 1990s, not many rules were made, due to which the fighter used to pull his opponent's hair, hit him in the eyes, and did many such things which were not legal. A few years later the rules were set in the UFC.
I was crazy for not buying anything: Lorenzo Fertitta
Former UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta claimed in an interview with Fighters Only magazine that his lawyers opposed the notion of him purchasing the fight promotion because they did not see any value in it. With the help of his solicitors, Fertitta claimed that the letters U-F-C had considerable brand value and were therefore priceless.
"I was told by my lawyers that I was crazy for not buying anything. They asked me for $2 million and I said, "What are you getting?" You don't realise that I'm acquiring the most valuable possession I could possibly possess, namely those three letters UFC, I said. That is what will make this thing function. Everyone is familiar with that brand, and whether they like it or not, they respond to it."
