Notably, he didn't know the man but took the blessing anyway. It is unclear from where the incident happened. However, it could be a case of him being in Stockholm where he made a world record.

Anderson Petersen took the top position with a throw of 90.31 meters in the third attempt in the Diamond League. Neeraj Chopra has been trying to reach the 90-meter mark since winning Gold last year. The 24-year-old failed to do it Paavo Nurmi Games where he made a national record of 89.30 meters. In the first attempt in the Diamond League, he threw the javelin 89.94 meters away.

It was enough for him to create a National record for himself. The eventual winner won the tournament after throwing 90.31 meters away. Neeraj made throws of 89.94m, 84.37m, 87.46m, 84.77m, 86.67m, and 86.84m in a total of six attempts. Early this year, the U-16 national champion said that he will try to cross the 90-meter mark this year.

“I will try to cross the 90-meter mark this year. I’m not thinking that I have to cross it in my first event but I will give my best in every event. We also have to take into account the weather and the conditions on the day – my performance will depend on those as well,” the 2015 Inter State event winner said.

Looks like the champion player has walked the talk and taking blessing from the unknown elderly man worked for him. Not to forget, he is set to lead the team of 37 players in the Commonwealth Games later this month.

Around 18 will be men and 19 will be women. He would be looking to get another medal in a showpiece event in Birmingham. The games will start on July 28 and end on August 8.
