In the ongoing Asian Games 2023, India Men's 10m Air Rifle Team achieved a historic feat by clinching the nation's first gold medal and breaking the world record in the process. The team consisted of Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, Divyansh Singh Panwar, and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, who delivered an outstanding performance in the individual qualification round, amassing a total of 1893.7 points. This score shattered the previous world record held by China. South Korea secured the second position with 1890.1 points, while China settled for third place with a total score of 1888.2.
Rudrankksh, Aishwary, and Divyansh all qualified for the top-8 in the 10m Air Rifle event, but due to Asian Games rules allowing only two participants from each country in the final, Rudrankksh and Aishwary advanced to the final round. The Indian team faced a minor setback in the initial series but quickly recovered, steadily improving their scores as the competition progressed. By the sixth series, they had not only won the gold medal but also set a new world record.
The Indian Cricket Board Secretary, Jay Shah also congratulated the trio on winning the gold:

This victory was significant as it marked India's first gold medal at the Asian Games 2023, setting a positive tone for the country's overall performance. On the first official day of the games, India secured a total of five medals, including three silver medals and two bronze medals. In addition to the men's success, the women's 10m air rifle team, featuring Ashi Chouksey, Mehuli Ghosh, and Ramita Jindal, also contributed to India's medal tally by winning a silver in shooting, further highlighting India's prowess in the sport at the Asian Games 2023.
India Women's Cricket team will have a chance to win the gold as well
The Indian women's cricket team faced the Sri Lankan women's cricket team in the finals of the Asian games on September 25. After winning the toss Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur opted to bat first which would eventually become harder to bat as the game progressed. After not getting an ideal start India’s opener Shafali Varma (9) got out early. However, Jemimah Rodrigues (40) and Smriti Mandhana (46) formed a brilliant 73 runs to provide stability to India's batting.
But once, Smriti was dismissed the Indian batting also perished like a deck of cards and were forced to finish at 116 runs in their 20 overs. The Sri Lankan team will need 117 runs to win the gold medal.
