KL Rahul made one of the most remarkable comebacks in Indian Cricket. The Karnataka batter had the Pakistan bowlers on his knees in Asia Cup 2023. Rahul's comeback was also very sudden as he was not in India's plans but was told he would play the match against Pakistan five minutes before the toss. Shreyas Iyer had a back spasm and Rahul had to fill in.

Rahul was in imperious form, he pulled, drove, and cut with authority and also swept the likes of Shadab Khan with disdain. It was one of the most remarkable innings as he showed why the Men in Blue had reimposed their faith in him and kept him in their plans ahead of the ODI World Cup. It was an innings of the highest class as he scored an unbeaten 111 off 106 balls with 12 fours and two sixes.

KL Rahul picked up a tight injury while playing in Indian Premier League 2023

Rahul's pick-up shot for six of Shadab Khan was the most audacious shot to pull out of his book that got the commentators going ga ga over his batting prowess. When Rahul played that shot, Sanjay Manjrekar on air was as baffled as the other commentators and could not stop talking about it. With the use of the sweep shot against the spinners, Rahul had come up with a clear game plan against the Men in Green.

The last few months have not been easy on KL Rahul the player as he lost his vice-captaincy in the Indian Test Team. His batting technique was questioned and he also fell out of favour in the Indian T20I side. Rahul was also coming off a thigh injury in IPL 2023 and also had undergone surgery.  Rahul was recently granted the green signal from the medical team to play in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.

The Indian management also was prepared to go the long haul with KL Rahul and trusted him to deliver the goods once he donned the Indian jersey again. Against Pakistan, he ran hard with Virat Kohli between the wickets and tested his glutes and groin.
