At the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka, the tension was evident when India and Pakistan squared off in Match 3 of the Asia Cup 2023 on Saturday, September 2. Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, won the toss and decided to bat first despite the possibility of rain throughout the game.
Naseem Shah along with Shaheen Afridi made the ball dance to their music by taking advantage of the favorable overcast weather. He set up both Rohit Sharma as well as Virat Kohli and managed to claim their prized scalps to put India on the back foot early; Afridi especially looked at his dangerous best.
In the fifth over, immediately following the rain delay, Afridi broke through the Indian captain's line of defense and demolished his stumps. The left-arm seamer initially curved two balls away from Sharma before swiftly bringing one back into him and striking the stumps.
After Sharma was dismissed, Kohli stepped to the crease and immediately showed that he meant business by hitting a magnificent cover drive off Naseem Shah's fourth delivery. However, in the following over against Afridi, he sliced the ball back onto his stumps, leaving India in trouble at 27/2.
In the meantime, Shreyas Iyer looked sharp as he quickly reached 14 off only eight balls despite losing Kohli and Sharma early. But Haris Rauf, who once again made him vulnerable to short balls, ended his innings in the tenth over. Iyer pulled a short delivery straight to mid-wicket leaving India in all sorts of trouble at 48/3.
Let us know look at how fans have reacted to poor batting display from the Indian top order batters:

What an unplayable ball that was! We should have opted to ball first. D/L will come into play now.. Pak will benefit from it.

Haris Rauf ended Gill’s dismal stay
After the second interruption of play due to rain, Rauf struck again. He stunned Shubman Gill with an absolute peach of a delivery. It was surely one of the innings that the young Indian opening batter would want to forget as he was going nowhere with the innings. The 23-year-old batter scored just 10 runs off 32 deliveries that he faced.
With India reeling at one stage at 66/4, Hardik Pandya as well as Ishan Kishan have tried steading the ship for India so that the team can reach a respective total that the bowlers can defend.
