Arch-rivals India and Pakistan are all set to lock horns once again in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The two will clash in the second Super Fours match at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, September 10. Their previous encounter in the group stage was abandoned due to rain and fans are hoping for a full game this time around. But the question remains – will rain play spoilsport again?

The intensity of the IND-PAK match will remain the same, but apart from the thrilling action the game offers, all eyes will be on the weather in Colombo today. According to AccuWeather (a private-sector American media company that provides commercial weather forecasting services worldwide), there is a high chance of rain at the time the game starts at 3 p.m. Weather.com has also suggested that the percentage of rain will be higher once the game starts.

However, in some good news for cricket fans, the weather in Colombo looks promising in the morning. Many X (formerly known as Twitter) users took to their accounts to share live updates of Sunday's weather. Sports Tak's managing editor Vikrant Gupta has also posted a couple of updates stating that it is a bright and sunny morning and ideal weather for cricket.

Will the match be moved to the reserve day?

But while the forecast looks good at the moment, the situation is likely to change only by the afternoon when the match starts. According to reports, there is an 80 per cent chance of rain, which will increase to 90 per cent by 5 p.m., after which the chances of the game are dim. Considering the weather in Colombo, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced an exclusive reserve day for the IND-PAK match, which drew a lot of criticism from all quarters.

If rain interrupts play on the originally scheduled date, it will resume from the point of suspension on the reserve day. However, the players, match officials and millions of fans will want the result on Sunday itself. Notably, rain also interrupted India's second group match against Nepal and the second innings was forced to reduce to 23 overs.
