Suryakumar Yadav has been in great form for India when it comes to T20 cricket. He is known for his unorthodox strokes and the ability to hit the ball to different parts of the ground where it is not normally hit. The Mumbaikar has proved he is worth his weight in gold in the shortest format of the game for the Men in Blue. Suryakumar has scored three centuries for the national side in T20Is. He has enthralled crowds with his batting from time to time.
When it comes to the Indian Premier League (IPL) he has also played some unbelievable blinders for Mumbai Indians (MI). Suryakumar has based his game around AB de Villers's batting and he has been doing some great work. He knows how to pace his innings in the format.
On his birthday, let us take a look at his top five knocks in T20 Cricket:
5. 79*(43) RCB vs MI in IPL 2020
In IPL 2020, the tournament had shifted to the United Arab Emirates due to the Covid-19 pandemic. MI was playing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the venue was the Sheikh Zayed cricket ground in Abu Dhabi. RCB scored 164-6 in their 20 overs in not the best of batting conditions in Dubai. Suryakumar Yadav cracked a stroke-filled 79 off 43 balls with 10 fours and three sixes as MI romped home with ease.
4. 71* (54) vs Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2019
This was an all-important game of the IPL 2019 in the qualifiers. A below-par batting performance from CSK meant that they could get to a not-so-challenging target of 132 in their 20 overs. In the run chase, Mumbai Indians did not get off to the best start as they lost Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock in the first four overs of the match. But Suryakumar crafted a wonderful innings of 71 off 54 balls with 10 fours that left CSK's bowlers dazed.
3. 76 from 44 balls vs West Indies August 2022 -Basseterre
Suryakumar Yadav was promoted as an opener for the game and he did not disappoint. The Man from Mumbai put the West Indies bowlers to the sword as he made 76 off 44 balls that allowed India to get to the target of 165 with considerable ease. The surface in St Kitts had a lot of bounce but it did not allow Yadav to curtail his range of shots against the West Indian bowlers.
2. 117 from 55 balls vs England July 2022 - Nottingham
In good batting conditions, England mounted a huge first-innings total and made 215-7. David Malan struck 77 off 39 balls with six fours and five sixes to help England get there. In the second innings. Suryakumar hit 14 fours and six sixes in a star-studded knock in what was a one-man show. India's second-best batter was Shreyas Iyer who made 28 off 23 balls with two sixes. The Men in Blue ended at 198-9 and fell just 18 runs short of England's total.
