Ahead of the new season, the five-time winners are experiencing huge turmoil. Fans aren’t happy with Hardik Pandya being named the skipper of the side. Rohit Sharma, many feel has been wronged by the team that has achieved so much success due to the 36-year-old.

During the IPL Auction 2024, Mumbai Indians were smart with their buys. Gerald Coetzee, Dilshan Madushanka, and Nuwan Thushara are some of the big buys this year. Strength – Great team balance

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan will open the innings and Suryakumar Yadav is set to bat number at three. Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, and Tim David will form the crux of the batting order. Wanindu Hasaranga would have been an ideal player to help the Mumbai Indians get through the middle overs. The lack of a seasoned star name spinner could come to bite Mumbai this year.

Another aspect that MI should worry about is the lack of a backup opener in the side. If Ishan Kishan or Rohit get injured there isn’t any batter with the experience of playing at the top that plays as an opener. 

Opportunities – Chance to make history once again – *

With Hardik Pandya being given the captaincy the 30-year-old will want to prove the fans wrong. Mumbai Indians have a great chance to win the league as for the first time they will not go in as the favorites. Since the men in blue and gold will not be under pressure it makes them a dangerous side. Considering the age of the team, the next few years could witness MI dominate once again.

Threats – Internal morale of the side

The entire captaincy saga at Mumbai Indians has made social media explode. It is being said that few members of the team are not happy with the decision made. With the season just three months away, Mumbai need to focus on achieving success. The team needs to shun the outside noise and focus on the greater good. If they disintegrate there is a threat looming that this season could really be disastrous for Mumbai Indians.
